“Look at the balls, Robbie! It’s almost like the playland at McDonald’s,” Amy cried with excitement at the toy department display of balls inside a cage big enough for six kids.
Older brother Robbie came closer and decided she was right. He stepped up to a round “bar” and pulled.
“Hey, this one stretches!” Robbie stretched it back enough to fit inside. “Amy! Try this!”
She climbed inside too.
But they were in trouble right away. Instead of balls they could hold in one hand, these looked to Robbie like the size of baby elephants. The balls seemed to be getting bigger, right around their feet!
“I’m squished! What do we do now, Brother?”
“Dunno!” Robbie tried to reach a stretchy cord, but his feet wouldn’t move.
“HELP! HELP!” Amy cried. “We can’t get out!”
At the cry, a nearby worker in uniform zipped around the corner. She had to choke down a laugh when she saw the two youngsters pinned in by the balls as she quickly helped them out.
“I thought it was just like McDonald’s playland,” the little girl explained.
Being in a hard place with no answers along with an urgent need for protection and help—it’s really nothing new through the ages. But we can control our reaction to problems. Though we may be anywhere, thinking we’re alone, facing any kind of challenge, God is close as a shadow, not far away at all! Our divine Creator is ready to protect, rescue and take over with his power, love and care, and solve the problem faster than a finger snap!
“The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” [Psalm 121:5-8]
Being trapped in the toy department forever may never be a worry. You may face other issues you don’t know how to solve, such as with danger, tough choices, fears or relationships.
Trust God and ask him for help. He won’t leave you with an overdose of traps, toys, or trouble.
